Woke up with this on my phone Saturday. Have no memory of writing it ha but I kinda like it & might use it somewhere else or something:

"poker" in-class exercise, 2/9/12

Our teacher distributed index cards with random words/phrases on them, and after switching random cards with classmates a few times, she had us create a free verse poem. My 7 words/phrases ended up being insect infestation, tiger, snakes invade homes, typhoon, gorge, eagle, and petroglyph.

This is how mine turned out:

Invasion

It starts with an insect infestation,

trillions of tiny teeth mauling

the fleshy interiors, too much like

a tiger mutilating a furry flank.

Then it spreads.

Snakes invade homes,

a rapid typhoon of failing

weaknesses in the great gorge,

until all that’s left is the eagle,

soaring in solitude above the

scattered remains spread out

like a petroglyph depicting what it used to be.

Well hello, blogosphere! In a sudden moment of what is possibly brilliance or more likely raging procrastination, I thought it might be fun to finally start sharing what I have been working on as a creative writing minor at The University of Alabama. (Roll Mother Fucking Tide!)

There's a good chance no one will really read or really care what I bother to post here, but honestly, I just like having a place to share even if it's just for myself. So, if you have bothered to read this, I hope that my writing doesn't bore you to tears, or make you gag you think it's so bad.

Be aware I use profanity/sexual references/etc often as I please. Not looking to offend anyone, just giving a warning if that sort of "creative" writing bothers you. I by no means think of myself as some "amazing" writer that deserves world-wide fame. I'm just a girl with a computer and a blogging account.

That being said, if anyone does ever stumble across this blog, I always respond to questions/comments if you want me to. I at least hope you enjoy yourself, or maybe have a laugh or two.
